The lion’s share of funding goes to animal models in medical research, claimed as beneficial for human patients.

Although laboratory animal models, claimed as life saving for human patients, are a minor part of medical research, such experiments receive the lion’s share of research funding. Senior cancer research scientist Dr Jim Woodgett comments on this following an article in Nature; (scroll down to the 5th comment) and more recently the Editor in Chief at the British Medical Journal made this the focus of her closing statement in her Editors Choice June 2104.
