We’re supporting MPs who are signing Parliamentary EDM 22, calling for the continued funding of animal experiments – claimed as able to ‘predict’ the responses of human patients – to be held to public scientific account in properly moderated, medical debates with the leading scientific Board in its field, Americans and Europeans for Medical Advancement, which provides our evidence. ‘Time to Hear the Scientific Evidence‘ has been launched to accelerate the support for MPs who are joining other politicians calling for this medical evidence to be heard without delay. The conditions for this hearing have been endorsed by Britain’s foremost human rights defence barrister Michael Mansfield QC.
The British Medical Journal (BMJ) Editors Choice, published in June 2014, reflects the statistics highlighted by MPs in Parliamentary EDM 22. The BMJ’s article titled ‘How Predictive and Productive is Animal Research?’ concludes by quoting from the paper it cited:
“If research conducted on animals continues to be unable to reasonably predict what can be expected in humans, the public’s continuing endorsement and funding of preclinical animal research seems misplaced”.
Help us hold this ‘misplaced funding’ of animal experiments – falsely claimed as able to ‘predict’ the responses of human patients – to thorough scientific account.
